Haychem (Bangladesh) Limited started its Bio-Fertilizer Unit in 2023 with a strong commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture through improved soil health management.
Soil health is one of the most critical factors for sustainable crop production. It largely depends on the organic matter content of the soil. Soil organic matter consists of living biomass (such as microorganisms), dead plant and animal tissues, partially decomposed materials, and stable humus. It plays a vital role in maintaining long-term soil fertility by acting as a reservoir of metabolic energy that drives biological processes responsible for nutrient availability.
Soil organic matter undergoes mineralization and releases substantial quantities of essential nutrients, including Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Sulfur (S), and important micronutrients. It significantly influences the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. However, the depletion of soil organic matter has become a major constraint to high-intensity crop production in Bangladesh. Since soil organic matter is continuously undergoing transformation and degradation, it must be replenished regularly to sustain soil productivity (SRDI, 2020).
In response to this challenge, Haychem (Bangladesh) Limited is working to supply high-quality organic fertilizers to farmers across the country. We are also introducing Trichoderma-enriched organic fertilizer, converting conventional compost into bio-fertilizer (Tricho-compost) as well as bio-pesticide solutions that enhance soil health while controlling harmful soil-borne fungi.
We have already registered our Tricho-compost bio-fertilizer under the brand name: Hayleys Tricost Compost
Our primary focus is to enrich compost with a sufficient and effective concentration of Trichoderma to ensure optimal biological activity and field performance.
Advantages of Tricho-Compost Over Traditional Compost:
- Acts as a natural antifungal agent against harmful soil-borne fungi responsible for diseases such as fungal wilt.
- Provides resistance against bacterial wilt and nematode infestation due to the inclusion of poultry refuse and beneficial microorganisms.
- Enhances root development and may function as a plant growth promoter (Mokhlesur, 2015).
- Improves nutrient availability and strengthens soil microbial activity.
We actively lead research initiatives in collaboration with different Agricultural Universities in Bangladesh to improve bio-fertilizer quality and performance. Our specialized Bio-Fertilizer Unit team continuously strives to enrich our product line while maintaining strict quality standards.
Through innovation, research, and farmer-focused solutions, Haychem (Bangladesh) Limited remains committed to improving soil health and supporting sustainable agricultural development across Bangladesh.
